With the increasing threat on Rhino through out South Africa and the world as a whole, the survival of individuals has become crucial to the survival of the species. With the increasing threat on Rhino through out South Africa and the world as a whole, the survival of individuals has become crucial to the survival of the species. I wanted to capture this desperation, this need for survial. I had followed this White Rhino cow and calf for some time, the little bull was lagging behind his mother investigating a territorial midden. She had moved on her way to water, I anticipated the calf running to catch up with the cow. I purposely captured the moment at a slower shutter speed to get the felling of movement, I was fortunate the calf ran passed his mother. To a postion in front of her, which is so typical of white rhino calves. The moment when the little bull was in line with the cow, is the symbolic race for time.
